5 tips that will help you to build a personal brand from the scratch

What is personal branding? It’s an image that will intrigue your potential customers, employers, and business partners. You create it by consistent, ongoing self-marketing activities. In today’s article I will give you my tips on how you can start building your online reputation.

1. Connect with people

Step number one is to find people from your niche and start networking. Where to look for them? On themed forums, Facebook groups, LinkedIn, and other social media. Finding business contacts and establishing relationships with the community plays a crucial part in personal branding for a number of reasons. First of all, you get to meet people from your target group and learn about what are their expectations. Second of all, you connect with other creators, who can help you start by giving you business advice, collaborating with you and by cross promotion. Lastly, when you become a part of the community, you can get inspired and motivated to work on your own business.

2. Coherent personal brand

Building an online brand is demanding and require a great deal of time at first. Let’s say you already have a decent amount of people following you. What now? You should think about your visual identity. That means having your logo designed, choosing a color theme, creating intros for your videos etc. Remember that a coherent look of all your platforms will make you appear professional and people will instantly recognize your brand when they see your work.

3. Listen to your audience and engage

Relationship with your viewers, who may become your clients is vital for your business and the image that you create. By engaging in conversations, they get to know you a little bit better and become invested in your story. Think about ways you can keep them interested and how you can spark a discussion. If you receive clear signals that something does not work, or they don’t enjoy your content, try to change that. Always ask for their opinion, as people really like when someone listens to them and gives them voice. Your audience will appreciate that, as the way you treat people is a reflection of you as a person and an entrepreneur.

4. Show your personality

The crucial element of your brand is your personality. Behind every successful platform, there is a charismatic creator with a strong identity, who actively promotes their work, talks to their audience, and tells stories. People are curious about their favorite influencers, so show your community a part of yourself. As cheesy as it sounds, everyone is interesting in their own way. Think about which of your qualities can be attractive to your public. Bring them out and highlight them. Also, don’t be afraid to show your vulnerable side. Nobody is perfect, and mentioning your flaws will make you more relatable.

5. Make your personal brand stand out from the competition

Everyone is different and showing your uniqueness is a key to a successful brand. The most important thing you should remember is to just be authentic and tell people about your experiences. Telling your own original story will make you stand out. You can also draw people’s attention with a cool design. It should match your brand, niche, and be aesthetically pleasing. It’s worth to invest and hire a professional to plan it and make it from the scratch. It could be quite expensive, but it’s a necessary investment. After all, the first thing people see is your visual branding. First impression matters if you want your personal brand to succeed!
